Yup, I'm getting the running itch again.

Maybe it's the warm weather.
Maybe it's because I keep thinking about that grieving winter, when I'd run and run and run away from everything. I'd go until I couldn't breathe and my lungs seared and my muscles were on fire and I'd just cry there in that green Oregon mist because no amount of physical pain could take away the pain I felt inside. Almost every day, I would run. That's when running became therapeutic for me, and I think I'm addicted.
I'm up for another race this year.
Does anyone else have the running itch?
P.S. My weekend was the best kind of weekends - filled with my favorite people. Old friends, new friends, birthday parties, and a family dinner made it so so great. That and some blessed happy valley sunshine. Bless that sunshine to the bottom of its soul.
Oh if I only had your problem...I mean itch. I dearly want to run, but I just hate it and therefore never do. Maybe I'll take a cue from you and get started!

Check out colormerad.com and thedirtydash.com--they're SUCH fun runs! Not so much races...but they're a party! And the Utah Valley Marathon and half are on June 9 this year. I ran the full last year and LOVED it, so I'm running it again. And I've heard fantastic things about the half, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy running!
That's funny I was just thinking how I want to start running again yesterday! I have always hated running, but I think I may have caught your "itch"!

ReplyDeleteI wish I could love running as much as you do!! I just have the hardest time with it... I love trail running, but the mountains are still too muddy. So I think I'll just have to keep trying at it and maybe love it eventually. :)
ReplyDeleteYour on your own with the running. Unless you want me to follow along on my bike?
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get a chance to cover all the things I wanted to ask you about at dinner. Maybe on Thursday.
I've always wished I were a runner. Glad you had a lovely weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI feel it too!! I've missed it so so much while being pregnant! I had to stop because I got too nauseous running in the first trimester and now I don't want to try getting back into it while pregnant. A jogging stroller is a must-have for me in the summer because I feel this itch too! It totally is therapeutic, I agree. I've had times in my life where something was really difficult and running kept me somewhat sane. I'm glad you agree. Runners are not crazy, as a lot of people think :).
ReplyDeleteI'm a TERRIBLE runner, but I love it so much. I keep trying, even though I fail miserably :) That's so great that you're doing those races! And I'm glad you had such a good weekend :) Those really are the best kinds!
ReplyDeleteI hate running. Ha. But there is something so wonderful about the sun shining and the bright sun rising (or setting) the takes me want to go out and do it. Maybe I should make you come get me and kick my butt?
ReplyDeleteI used to hate running until a couple of years after my mission. Then I fell in love with it. One of these days I'll run again...
ReplyDeleteI think I can safely say I've never had the running itch. I've got a bad case of the sit on a lounge chair by the pool with a virgin (or not-so-virgin?) strawberry daiquiri and read a good book itch.
ReplyDeleteThere is seriously nothing better than a great run to make you feel good about yourself! Love this post, and your blog!
ReplyDeleteAhh, running. I have a serious love hate relationship with that! Haha, but when I do run, its fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI know I already commented on this post, but I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for a blog award :)
ReplyDeleteI WISH I had the running itch. I've been much too lazy recently. Haha. I'll work on starting at least walking though! This baby needs me to get off my lazy butt sometimes! I'm excited to hear about your next race though! :]
ReplyDeletewooot! good for you, girl! i love running, too! i got a pass to the gym just a few weeks ago and have loved it since!!
