But this morning came so early. Oh, when Ring Tone 5 went off, it was so early and so dark and my blankets were so warm.
Sam is a riot when he's half asleep, and it didn't take long for us to form our dastardly skipping plan. And then go back to sleep. It was one of those okay let's get up, NO, yes we have to, no we don't, YES, final answer, no final answer, NO YES NO type of moments. You know how those go.
What can I say, we're partners in crime. Although we probably kiss more than most partners in crime. To prove it: a kissing picture. Can you see the criminal intentions?
{right on the lips. the nerve.}
I mean, it's only Sam's mandatory class that he's skipping. And I don't necessarily have a class that's quite so mandatory this morning. And it's only this education that we're paying for and stuff. And we're usually so good at going to class. And now I'm trying to justify myself to the blinking cursor, which seems kind of silly, but that's how it goes at 8 in the morning.
In other news, the BYU Blogger Meet-up is on Thursday, and I am so stoked about it. Did I even have a dream or two about it? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, make sure to pay your invoices and we'll see you there!
And one more mostly related thing: I start full-time with the sixth graders tomorrow. I'm really quite nervous about it. You see, when I taught second grade, that was something. But the sixth graders, that's something else entirely. Let me just say that when I made these bookmarks for the second graders,
they spent the whole day using them to make chomping noises on the corners of their pages and chomping their knees and fingers and all other chompable objects in the classroom. And I just can't see the sixth graders getting into something like that. But if you don't get into that, what is there in life to get into, you know?
Which is why I'm nervous for tomorrow.
Which brings me back to today, monster book marks, and blogging when I should be on campus. We can only hope that the rest of the day goes like this.
Myself looking weird at 8 in the morning, to provide evidence that I am indeed sitting at my kitchen table looking in a strange direction rather than getting things done on campus:
ooo love your sweater!
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha I htink we ALL have those days ;) I helped teach the sixth grade for awhile and I think that certain ones would think those are super cute, but the boys would probably make them into guns or something scary. Or maybe that's just MY sixth graders......(I have gangsters - like for realsies) I say try it out! I would totally make one for me hahahaha they're SOOO cute!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just need a day to sleep in :) I love that sweater and those earrings with your hair pulled back like that! Very pretty :)
ReplyDeletePeter and I are the EXACT same way when it comes to skipping class. "Do you really have to go?" "...no." That's how it usually goes. Your sweater is so cute by the way!
ReplyDeleteIt is ok to skip class every now & then we all need breaks sometimes ;) & today just happened to be the day for you two! I hope you both enjoy your day class free :)
ReplyDeleteoh my lanta! I am so envious. I am sitting in class right now and I'm going NUTS.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous!
i love your writing style! and tim and i totally do that in the mornings, too. so special.
ReplyDeleteI was way nervous to do 6th grade for the first half of student teaching. I'd only been with 1st and 3rd grades in the practicums! But...it really changed how I felt about teaching. In a good way! I love the older grades!! There are so many things you can do with them that just doesn't work with little kids (like having meaningful class discussions). Plus, I feel like I got to know my 6th graders so much better than the little ones just because you can talk to them more. There's different issues with the older grades, but I don't think it's necessarily harder. Just different and you learn how to handle things differently than with the younger students. So don't be too nervous. I hope you love it too!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteha.ha.ha. i'm dying over the "it's only his mandatory class" that line just got me!
ReplyDeletei'm so happy i'm done with school! it's the best feeling, until you realize being a poor student wasn't half bad now that you have to be real grown ups...
xo
Cute bookmarks! I'm sure the 6th graders will love you. If you need some good ideas, just ask my kids about all the antics of Ms. Rasmussen.
ReplyDeleteOhhh man. Knowing how difficult it is for just me to get up in the morning, I'd hate to think about what would happen if there was someone else I really liked in bed with me!
ReplyDeleteaaaweee.. i do love that sweater tho dear.
