Silver Lining: {my} kids say the darnedest things

{my} kids say the darnedest things

Since I teach upper grades, I thought I wouldn't get as many funny comments as the littles.

Oh boy was I wrong. I crack up on the daily with my kids. They're hilarious! And soooo dramatic, which is what makes them hilarious.

A tiny sampling of the craziness (this post is brought to you by the letter M and the number 12):

________________

an intercepted note:
"It was a big mistake to go out with you. You can go out with Cory now if you want. You can see if I care. PS I thought I loved you."

Kindergartener crying in the office:
secretary: "it's okay, we can call your parents. What are their names?"
sniffling child: "mom and dad."

during literacy time:
me: "Sit up please! Follow the text with your finger."
student: "I feel like I'm being held here against my will."

student from Natalie's class:
"I think I left my hat in here. It doesn't have my name on it, but you can just ask my teacher if it's mine. She knows it's mine because she tells me to take it off all day long."

second grader getting in trouble in the hall:
"I'm sorry teacher! I tell my feet to not run, but they want to go to recess so bad they forget to listen!"

student:
"just so you know, I have a rare form of dandruff that people usually get when they're babies but I got it now. if you see huge white chunks in my hair, don't be alarmed."

And you should see their faces when they accidentally brush hands with someone of the opposite gender {so horrified. so embarrassed}, or when they record videos for Mr. Emery, telling him to come play basketball.

I'm a firm believer that you should have at least one good laugh with your kids every day. It's okay to let the noise level get out of hand for two seconds. And my students provide such golden opportunities for said laughs.

And finally, I don't know why this is so funny, but it's been cracking me up all day. "I'm like a confused blind boy without his walking stick." It's a picture of a boy walking into a wall next to an empty door. Where do they come up with this stuff??

  1. These just made me want to crack up while sitting here at work. I have to laugh inside though since people would think I'm nutso. What a picture at the end. Very creative thinking.

  2. I cracked up at this! Kids are awesome!!! My daughter (she's in 4th grade) says the funniest crap sometimes too! It's hilarious!!

PS. that white stuff in that child's hair is either Eczema or Psoriasis. Because that's what I suffer from. Poor thing!

  17. ahahah Brooke I am cracking up. Kids are gems. I've been substituting in Primary for a few months, and the seven year olds are so open about their crushes... it is hilarious. I laugh so hard every week at the things they say!
