What they don't tell you in college is that coworkers have the potential to become your worst enemies, or your best friends. Lucky for me, my coworkers are the latter. I can't imagine getting through one school day without our morning chats in Rachelle's room, our lunchtime venting and laughing sessions, or our Friday afternoon loitering-until-four sessions. (Not to say we didn't do gigantic amounts of work, planning, and collaboration, because we did.) We even went camping in the snow with our 5th graders for three days and became closer because of it, for crying out loud!
And so we decided a teacher vacation was in order. One day, we were packing up the last of our classrooms and saying goodbye to our kids, and the next we were shoving bags in the trunk and driving south on the i-15.
We stayed in Effie's gorgeous second home in St. George, and I won't tell you in detail the amount of laughing, crying, eating, tanning, and late-night chats that occured. Emphasis on the eating and laughing. I love these ladies a lot, and the more I talk to other professionals in the workplace, the more I realize how rare our friendship and camaraderie is (can someone give me points for spelling that word correctly please?).
Thank you Nina, Effie, Kerri, Rachelle and Natalie for such an awesome way to end the school year!
How do you feel about your coworkers?
Best friends?
Enemies?
That is so awesome that you all get along so well! I've had a couple coworkers as friends, but we usually don't stay in touch. But it is definitely better to have them as friends rather than enemies!! Looks like you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I miss about the pharmacy I used to work at are the awesome friends I had there. Glad you had a great trip!
ReplyDeleteAfter being with the same group of coworkers for almost two years, we're usually pretty good friends, but there are days where I run away from the service desk thanking the good lord I didn't kill anybody lol.
ReplyDeleteI've been lucky to have a couple of co-teachers turn out to be my best friends. However, there's a lot of politics going on in my school and around four years ago, a co-teacher whom I thought was the closest thing I had to a best friend turned out to be my worst enemy. It's become so hard to trust after that.
