I'm the only one in my family who can't communicate telepathically
It's always been common knowledge that my husband and my ward of the state are very similar.
A few weeks ago, my husband and I gave talks in our church meeting. When my husband was introducing Jason to the congregation, he said "if you want to know what I was like when I was 12, look at Jason. If you want to know what Jason will be like when he's my age, look at me."
He was totally right. They're so alike. But it's more than that! Those two have more similarities than most brothers. They sit the same way, they eat the same way, they have the same sense of humor, they get the same look on their face when they're concentrating, they say the same things at the same time. I feel like an outcast because I'm not in that exact-same-DNA party they're in.
A few nights ago, Jason was playing some sort of new pirate video game (?), and Sam was doing the dishes.
"How do you-?" asked Jason.
"Up and to the left," said Sam.
I looked over. Sam wasn't even looking at the TV. He was scrubbing a pan.
"No, I want to tr -" said Jason.
"Oh. Look in the memory box," said Sam, loading a dish into the dishwasher.
A few seconds passed. Sam kept doing the dishes.
"You can't get to it that way," said Sam. STILL NOT LOOKING.
This went on for the next five minutes! I swear Sam knew exactly what Jason's little pirate character was doing without EVER looking at the screen. Which leads me to these logical conclusions:
a) I'm in an episode of the Twilight Zone
b) They can communicate telepathically
c) Both
And now I've spent the last 45 minutes sending Sam very strong lets-go-get-a-snow-cone-right-this-second telepathic messages, but he hasn't so much as batted an eye. Well, he blinked, obviously. And he squinted his eyes at his phone once. The exact same way Jason squints at phones, by the way.
So, yes. The Twilight Zone. I'm stuck in it. But I can't complain too much. These two are hilarious together.
PS we finally got some family pictures. Rest assured, there will be many a long post in the future with more pictures and love notes to our photographer. I am a blogger after all :)
