Our lack of space works well with our second philosophy, which is that babies don't actually need that much stuff. Companies are constantly trying to sell you stuff you don't need, and we feel that our baby will be just as happy without a cappuccino-style bottle mixer, an elaborate changing station, three different types of bouncers, and a ton of toys that newborns can't appreciate yet. We're minimalists when it comes to baby's nursery - babies don't need that much stuff.
Third, we wanted our baby room to be bright, calming and airy. We used white furniture to give the room a more open, light feel. We also didn't go overboard on any one color. Rather, we used lots of different colors as small accents throughout the room. (For the record, Sam is way more into the color pink than I am. "It's a girl's room, Brooke. Pink! We need more pink!" The pink flowers are just for him :)
And so, without further ado, here's a little glimpse of our baby's space. I'm still not finished. There are some blank walls that I haven't decided how to decorate, and real prints are coming soon to replace the scrapbook paper fillers that are up right now. We hope you like it as much as we do!
Crib - Delta

Now all we need is a baby to go in that crib! I'll most likely be induced two weeks from today if I don't have my baby before then, and Sam and I are trying not to drive ourselves crazy playing the waiting game...
so cute, brooke! i love it so much and so will baby girl! and patience is the hardest when it comes to giving birth! but she'll come! if there's one thing i could go back & change it would be to enjoy my pregnancy more before baby comes- trust me, you'll miss it! :)
ReplyDeleteand that looks like a alexa z design print, no? i could be wrong :)
I know, I know, I keep telling myself that I'll miss these days where I'm still in charge of myself and everything's quiet and calm. But let's just say patience has never been my forte :)
DeleteOhh what a sweet & adorable nursery!! Yall did great! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Pamela!
DeleteI've been following your blog for a couple of years now and I have to comment to say how great the room looks! Perfect balance between calming and fun. So excited for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Melissa! We're excited too :)
Deleteoh my gosh Brooke, this is seriously the cutest thing. i'm so excited to see all those shoes on her!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara! Shoes on a baby are kind of unnecessary, but they sure are cute :)
DeleteNice! Just to be sure to move the dream-catcher up when she can stand or on day you'll come in to check on her and wonder where she got the bird to eat. Looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes seriously. I think a lot of things will change when she gets old enough to move around a lot.
DeleteYour nursery is great - it's actually refreshing that you haven't overloaded on pink! The mulitcoloured dresser drawer knobs are so cute! I think you met your aim in decorating the nursery.
ReplyDeleteWe have a storage shortage too - clearly I haven't been creative enough! Haha!
I wish you all the best for the arrival of your baby.
:-)

Thanks! I guess I never realized I wasn't a huge pink fan until I found myself buying things in every color except for pink haha. And when you're short on storage, just remember - there's always the bathroom shelves :)
DeleteSuper cute nursery! And hey! I'll probably be induced by next Friday as well!
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting! You'll have your baby before me! Why are you being induced early?
